Sue partnered with the Athleta 2 Folsom team in San Francisco to host an in-store styling and shopping event.
As the event producer, meticulous planning was crucial for the success of the virtual fundraiser during the global pandemic of December 2020. I orchestrated various elements, including developing the show flow script and creating a compelling video for the opening. I negotiated contracts for talent, event location, and technical teams demonstrating my comprehensive approach to event management and ensuring a seamless execution of this unique virtual event.
As the event organizer and leader on the Gap, Inc. DEI Women@Gap, Inc. committee, the goal was to create an event that would promote inclusivity and diversity within the drag community. The primary objectives were to provide a platform for talented women in drag to share their stories and challenges, encourage support from a diverse audience, and challenge traditional gender norms within the drag community.
As the director of the event, the primary objectives were to educate and empower individuals on the importance of mental health and self-care. Additionally, the event aimed to provide a platform for professionals, leaders, and volunteers to share their experiences and insights on mental health, creating a dialogue that encouraged mutual support.
During the event, I took on the crucial role of keeping the audience engaged and energized. As an Audience Motivator, I made sure to encourage the crowd to cheer loudly for the performers on stage and to actively participate by tipping them generously. To provide an inclusive presence and make the event more welcoming to all attendees, I decided to dress in drag. This created a fun and inviting atmosphere that allowed everyone to feel comfortable and have a good time.
The South of the Border Fiesta at Saatchi & Saatchi Gallery during Advertising Week was a resounding success. The event not only met attendance goals but left a lasting impression on the advertising and creative community. Attendees, primarily composed of advertising professionals, creative directors, and marketers, experienced a dynamic and memorable celebration, establishing the event as a standout during Advertising Week in New York City.
Assuming a multifaceted role, I handled various responsibilities crucial to the event’s success. This included sourcing and negotiating contracts for different elements of the event, securing financial support from sponsors within the advertising industry, negotiating with vendors for props and seating areas, arranging catering with a Mexican flair, and hiring live entertainment, including a Mariachi band and a mechanical bull.
